about

Happy Alchemy is Shannon Graham’s fifth studio recording. It is an original song-cycle or “concept album”, written by Graham, with each of it’s twelve songs depicting a step towards spiritual growth. The thirteenth song, a cover of Minnie Riperton’s “Lovin’ You” is a love letter to All Things.

The work is scored for Graham (voice and soprano/alto/tenor saxophone) and the Odin String Quartet. Odin shines on the record, playing in contrasting styles such as pop, salsa, reggaetón, soul, and classical. Each song in the cycle is in a different genre from the one before it, a tribute to the myriad styles of music which influence and inspire it’s composer.
